Good Shepherd offers a range of both curricular and extra-curricular sporting opportunities for Junior Year students. We believe involvement in sport is not only important to the health and wellbeing of our students, but it also encourages team work, participation and commitment.

Curricular Sport

Students participate in the following curricular sport programs throughout the year:

Prep

  • Term 1 – Progressive Motor Program, Gross Motor Program
  • Term 2 – Soccer Skills, Basketball Skills
  • Term 3 – Modified Athletic, Modified Team Games
  • Term 4 – Swimming

Year 1

  • Term 1 – Swimming
  • Term 2 – Tennis Skills, Mixed Ball Games/Skills
  • Term 3 – Modified Athletics, Cricket Skills
  • Term 4 – Dance

Year 2

  • Term 1 – Gross Motor Program (Advanced), Swimming
  • Term 2 – Modified Team Games, 2/3 Sport Program

Year 3

  • Term 1 – Dance, Swimming

Year 4

Wednesday Afternoon Sport – Years 1 to 3

Good Shepherd is a participant in the Sunshine Coast Independent Sports Association (SCISSA), with students in Years 4 to 6 participating throughout the year in a range of sports. Training occurs during the term with interschool Gala Days where other independent schools compete against one another.

Co-curricular Sport

At Good Shepherd students from Year 3 participate in sport carnivals for swimming, cross-country and athletics carnivals as a part of their House Group. From these carnivals, students aged 10 years and above, depending on their placement at school level, can go on to be selected to compete in school carnivals in swimming, cross-country and athletics representing their district, region or state through Qld School Sport.

In addition, the College offers the opportunity for students to trial for representation in Qld School Sport for a variety of sport including (but not limited to) netball, soccer, rugby, AFL, basketball, touch etc. For a complete list of sport trials and dates please contact the Sport Department.
