Each year we hold "Artsfest" - a week long celebration of the arts involving the whole College. From year to year the combination of activities is different in order to ensure students' interest and enthusiasm. There are activities to appeal to everyone and could include drama productions, a poetry evening, band and choir concerts, a talent show, an art show and supper club entertainment.

Public Speaking

Besides the oral element of language taught in the English curriculum, the College has a program of public speaking in which Year 8-10 students are involved in a Queensland Debating Union competition. Each year senior students have the opportunity to compete in the Lions "Youth of the Year" and there is an inter-Lutheran public speaking competition which involves students from the other southeast Queensland Lutheran Colleges.

Tournament Of Minds and Optiminds

The College has a fine record of involvement in the annual Tournament Of Minds and Opti-Minds competitions, and in the past we have participated in national finals. Students in the middle years of schooling comprise teams which participate in the areas of language, science and social science each year.

Exchange Programs

The Languages Other Than English (LOTE) taught at Good Shepherd are German and Japanese. As part of their studies students have an opportunity to spend time in Germany and Japan. Each year at Easter, visitors to our College come to us from our sister school “Die Schillerschule” in Frankfurt in Germany. In return a group of our students pay a visit there for Christmas. Our sister school in Japan is in the seaside town of Oshimizu. Each August a group of our students visit there or they visit us in turn. A group of Year 6 students also spend some time with us each year form the Aoyama School in Tokyo.
