Secondary Outdoor Education

In Semester Two, Year 10 students spend four weeks at Googa, our outdoor education centre. The centre is set in the ranges outside the township of Blackbutt, about two and a half hours from Noosa.

Students engage in activities during this time that help to develop skills and understanding in the areas of:

  • The Environment

  • Independent Living

  • Spiritual Growth

  • Initiative

  • Self-reliance/confidence/esteem

  • Personal Challenges

  • Community

  • Survival

This is an integral part of the Year 10 curriculum at Good Shepherd and all students are required to participate.

Each year there is an information evening for the Year 10 students and their parents. The Director of the Googa Outdoor Education Centre, or his or her representative, will be present at the evening. An information booklet is produced each year and will be available online after the presentation.
